Joyo JF03 Crunch Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal

Modelled on the classic Crunch Box, this is the classic British rock distortion sound. It has great response and sustain and the gain, tone and volume pots make fine-tuning a piece of cake. Joyo has succeeded in releasing a great range of pedals at a great price.

This pedal brings back the gritty-dry tone of Brit-Rock from the '60's and '70s. Dial up a light crunch or gritty rock scream!! A solid metal construction, true bypass, high quality components and superb value for money make this an easy choice!

Joyo - Crunch Distortion

By: on 14 November 2016
The first Joyo pedal I bought was the California mesa amp simulator at the beginning of this year (check out my review on this website). Since then, I've collected more from this brand and have incorporated Joyo pedals heavily into my studio work. The Crunch Distortion pedal is a great edition to place in front of the Joyo amp simulators for when the gain on the amp simulator is set to either low or half gain. Because the Joyo range of amp simulators don't always have really high gain (it depends on the specific amp sound being emulated obviously), I find its best to focus on getting a good "clean-ish" amp sound, and then let the Crunch distortion do all the "dirty work". In many respects, it's very similar to the Boss DS-1 in terms of operation. However, I find that the Crunch Distortion pedal has a much crisper high gain setting which surpasses the DS-1. With this pedal, you won't be tempted to take out much of the midrange because the mids on this are really well-rounded and controlled. If you're into bands like Helmet (particularly their album "Aftertaste") and are looking to achieve a similar distorted guitar sound, then Joyo's Crunch Distortion pedal will put you on the right track.
