Artist AT91V2 Electric Guitar with Twangler Single-Coil Pickups

Based on our ever-popular Artist TC59 model, this updated model features several upgrades that set it apart from our best-selling TC59s.

Combining classic looks with contemporary modern features, the AT91V2 takes all the best bits from this style of guitar and brings them forward into the modern era. Specifically, the belly-cut and arm contour on the body, which help with ergonomics and also reduces the weight of the guitar quite significantly.

The AT91V2 comes equipped with our very own Artist Twangler single-coils for the bright, spanky tones you might expect from a guitar of this style, with the bone nut, locking tuners and a modern 6-saddle bridge providing ultimate tuning stability and allowing you to intonate this guitar very accurately.

The body is made from AA Grade American Ash, with swimming pool routing beneath the pickguard making this a highly mod-able instrument! The AT91 has a satin Maple neck in a C-shape profile with black dot inlays and a skunk-stripe on the rear. This guitar has a two-way truss rod and the 25.5” scale length you’d expect from this style, and the improved wiring and 250K pots make this very responsive under the fingers - perfect for everything from country twang to rock!

So glad I bought this!

Having owned a 1965 Fender Strat, a 1980 Gibbo SG, a Gibbo ES335 Lucille, and still playing a 1958 Epiphone Texan and Taylor 325CE, as well as other excellent electric guitars, I can tell you to look no further! The craftsmanship of this guitar is worthy of the highest labels. The pick-ups are spot on. The finish is second to none, including frets, fret-ends and rolled neck edges. The tone is great! I did some tweaks for me - roller bridge saddles and string trees, and I swapped out the nut for one with 7mm between the strings (slightly more than stock). It is impossible to put this thing down! Realistically Fender doesn't hold a candle to this! And to add insult to Fender's injury, the price is ridiculously inexpensive! So glad I bought this!

Wow.

Okay, so let me start by saying I am not new to Artist guitars and have been using them for the past 8 years. (playing for 20) Their growth in the quality of their product is exceptional but this guitar is a cracker! Picked mine up in the bargain bin and once it arrived, tuned it up and gave it a test. Body is stunning, neck is perfect, a few scratchy frets but nothing a quick buff wouldn't fix, contoured body amazing yada yada yada. All the amazingness you would expect from Artist. Where this guitar TRULY shines, is the twangler pickups...These things are HOT! Spanky in the bridge, smooth in the neck and pretty well balanced....now- Plug a regular single coil tele at this price point into an amp and throw on your distortion, you get that noisy hum..... (I was expecting this). Plugged into a Boss Katana with the Librarian app and slowly started upping the gain to see where the hum would start. We went from a mellow overdrive, to a crunch, to a soaring Gary Moore setting RIGHT up to a full blown metal sound!!! These did not hum AT ALL!!!! (Sounded thin on the metal setting but I expected that being a single coil)- These pickups can handle (in the range of high gain) anything from Blackmore to Moore to Slash to Yngwie etc. Well done, Artist!

This tele's like a tele

By: on 11 March 2024
Another one I ordered for the high school music department I work for, and another stunner from Artist guitars. I chose this one to add variety to our guitar collection as we have a few students who like a bit of indie rock and one or two who may be secret country fans. And, because I love country music and a tele anyway! First thing I noticed was the weight - this thing feels SOLID. Not in a 'break-your-shoulder' kind of way, but definitely weighty. The aesthetic is classic, the neck feels very comfy, and the pickups twang like their name suggests. This one has been in the hands of students for about a month, and we've had no broken strings, no tuning issues... in fact, no issues at all. The only issue we have is that we don't have two of them to spread the tele love a little further! Kids are excited to grab this one and have a strum. At this price point, I feel that it makes a brilliant addition to a set of guitars that will get a lot of love!

AT91V2 Natural

By: on 23 February 2024
Have previously owned a Player series Tele and since purchasing the AT91V2,I believe the Artist Tele outshines the name brand by leaps and bounds. The tuning stability of the Artist guitar, once intonation was done,is exceptional regardless of how hard I attack the strings. I'm extremely happy with my choice of the single coil guitar that Artist Guitars has produced....and the sound from the Twangler pick ups is music to my ears. I highly recommend this product. Awesome instrument & fast shipping, can't believe how overpriced certain other brands are in comparison. Obviously we pay extra for the name!

Artist AT91V2

By: on 6 November 2023
I just received my AT91V2 guitar. I also have a TC59,TL69 Thin line and a ST62 Vintage White. The AT91V2 is amazing straight of the box all it needs is the intonation done everything else is perfect (frets, fingerboard) I don't even have to change the strings. There is no need to at those high priced Squire's and Fenders (like in the early 70's). I bought a Gibson in 1974 which I since sold. My Artist Guitars are just as good as the Gibson. If you want that Tele sound don't spend 3 figures as it is not necessary you can get it with the Artist AT91V2 or the TC59 just use the coil split.

Best so far

By: on 26 October 2023
This is the fourth guitar I've bought from Artist and by far the best. Others had slight issues requiring a return but this Tele really ticks all the boxes. Fantastic playability with super fast neck, great tone, intonation spot on and super comfortable with the belly cut. Well done Artist guitars! On a side note the amp I purchased has an annoying hum even with the volume turned down and the standby off.. its the Cremetone model.. sounds great but in a quiet room the hum is really noticeable

I'm lovin' it!

Well, for a start, the delivery time was amazing! I put in my order, perhaps on a Thursday, or early Friday, and was delivered to my door Tuesday morning, and this was the long weekend, Monday being a holiday, and to a rural area! Therefore, excellent delivery time! The guitar was purchased from the Bargain Bin, and I opened the box, to check the returned model, and the only "fault" was, scratches on the pickguard, and then I saw that the plastic coating was still on the guard. Peeled it off and I was holding a perfect, no flaws, instrument! It plays like a dream, a good range between the three settings, no fret buzz, no adjustment needed. Perhaps the original purchaser made some adjustments....I can't answer as to that, but all I know is, out of the box and into my hands, and I'm feeling like I've owned it for years! Obviously, the neck, the body, everything about it is great! I have two other Teles, one is a Squier, and one is the Artist American Ash body, but this new one with the Twangler pick ups gives me the full single-coil sound that I needed to complete my collection. (So far!) Simply put, a fine guitar, and I could go and play it right now, in a band (if I was in one!

Great tone and playability

By: on 17 September 2023
I love the tone of the single coils, it's amazing the variety you can get from a tele-style guitar, from the bright sound of the bridge pickup to the smooth sound of the neck pickup an everything in between. You can play many genres from jazz to hard rock. So versatile. As usual with Artist Guitars, everything was in order, the action was good and the frets in good shape.

Twang-tastic!

By: on 18 July 2023
I was looking for something easy to play for sharp crispy tones for both ambient clean stuff and rock. This sounds great and has some pretty spicy hot pickups (which I see/hear as a good thing) without the expected single coil noise! As always - Artist quality control is superb and there were no issues with the guitar or overall transaction and I've never had any issues in the last several years of being a customer!

Great tones

By: on 24 June 2023
The guitar is awesome just what I wanted. Feels good and has great tones. Best value for money out there. However I think it's time Artist Guitars found a new courier. CouriersPlease started off good but now are totally crap. Parcels sit around for days. Nearly a week to travel 240km. A Stagecoach would be quicker.

Excellent value!

By: on 29 May 2023
Great price for an ash body Tele with the traditional pickup arrangement. Neck was straight out of the box easy to get low action without too much fuss or buzz from the frets. Reason for 4 star instead of 5 is the fact mine was heavy roughly 5kg for the body alone even though it’s weight relieved. One other thing I find the stock pickups to be way too hot for classic Tele tones I mean you can get twang but 16k for a Tele bridge is a bit overboard but hey it’s a great modding platform. Other than that it’s a fantastic buy compared to anything else out there at this price.

Excellent Guitar!

By: on 25 May 2023
I'd always wanted a Telecaster........... and a friend had one of these Artist Guitars that I'd never heard of...... Played just as well as his real Telecaster. A few weeks and lots of reviews I pushed the button on the AT91V2 with the Twangler Pickup. ..I even tested the call centre for which model I should buy, for me, and she was very helpfull. It was delivered in 5 days and straight out of the box played really well........ After a little fine tuning of the truss rod and the saddle heights it plays the best out of all my guitars! And I've discovered these wonderful Dirty , Bluesy tones that are shaking the neighbour's bones! And with a money back guarantee like theirs how could you go wrong.........?? I now have another problem....... Whats the next one I need? Great company, Great Service, and Great product!!! Well done Artist Guitars

Amazing guitar for the price

By: on 23 May 2023
I ordered this guitar because I wanted a Tele style guitar (I've always played Strats) and I had read some of the other good reviews of this instrument. I received my guitar yesterday, and wow! I am super impressed at the quality of this guitar for the price. The guitar was set up with high action when I received it, so I lowered the action to where I usually have other guitars - 2/32" at the 17th fret. The neck is fantastic no buzzing or choking of notes when bending, frets are very smooth and well finished. The sound is also incredible, very resonant with lots of sustain and twang, the pickups are also very good. The finish and build quality are also excellent. The bone nut is a real bonus too. Well done Artist!

Dream Tele at a ridiculous price

By: on 5 May 2023
I've been hunting for the perfect Tele for the better part of 5 years, and for me that's everything done to the classic spec, but with an arm carve and belly cut. Searched high and low in brick and mortar stores, eBay, Reverb and even some sketchier online marketplaces. I was basically resigned to building one myself from a kit when I found one of these as a customer return at a silly price plus an eBay discount. What I got a couple of days later is a great guitar. Like any Tele, it's absolutely bulletproof, easy to set intonation and effortlessly twangy. What struck me though is the comfort level. The body contours really help, but the chunky neck is just sublime for chord play. It's really inspired me to just sit down and write because I can play around with weird chord positions and voicings all day. Like they say, the best guitar is the one that inspires you to pick it up. Love it. Minor gripes - I had to file the edges of the bridge, and stabbed myself on the point of the A on the neck pickup Artist logo, which was curling up. But hey, 5 minutes of blood, sweat and tears is nothing. I've got a more expensive guitar from one of the big brands that doesn't even have a properly grounded bridge. Long story short - ripper guitar, crazy value, highly recommend.

outstanding value (again!)

By: on 3 April 2023
My first electric guitar was a brand tele and about 15 guitars later it is still very close to my favourite. I've always wanted a natural wood tele but could never justify the cost, or get it through my personal investment committee (ie my nearest and dearest). This has allowed me to scratch that itch for minimal $. It looks great and for the price I'd be happy if I just hung it on a wall and only ever looked at it! But as a bonus it actually plays well too, and pretty true to the feel and sound of the guitar that inspires it. It played decently out of the box, and definitely benefited from a few plays and minor tinkering. This is my 2nd Artist guitar and they have both been winners. If I was someone looking to buy a first guitar (and setting aside my tele bias) I'd probably be inclined to go for the Cherry58 before this. But that is no diss on this guitar. Outstanding bang for your buck and Artist have now proven to me twice that their service and customer care is first class given the spend. Cheers

Lost Order - Couriers Please delivered elsewhere

By: on 14 March 2023
Order Missing. NO STARS! I cannot give any positive feedback. I placed an order last week, and today was delivery day. At 326pm I received an email from Couriers Please stating the order has been delivered. Ten minutes later Artist Guitars stating the same. I've had spinal surgery and cannot leave my home ay the moment. Today I sat in the lounge awaiting my order. It has NOT been delivered here. I am an military veteran who has a world of problems including mental issues. I am on a pension and an outlay of $988 is huge for me. I've called Couriers Please but can't get through. I've called Artist Guitars twice and they are chasing it up... telling me they've got.me covered. I am physically ill. My hands and legs shaking because of this. I made it clear when I ordered the items cannot be left and tyat I'd be home. How on earth can the courier leave somewhere else? I am so stressed. I can't afford to lose $988. Please help me.

Artist Guitars Response
I am really sorry about this experience with the courier. We are currently chasing this up with them as per the email conversation we have. Please bear with us.

Great guitar

By: on 24 January 2023
I'm very impressed and cannot fault this instrument. It plays great and sounds great and those are the two most important aspects for any guitar. I like telecasters for that boogie rock sound as classically depicted by Status Quo and all you need to do with this Artist telecaster is put on a bit of overdrive into a Vox amplifier and you are there. I'm a big fan of locking tuners so that is a great inclusion. I'm also a big fan of stainless steel frets and while you don't get those on this guitar, if you wear out the frets it will be cheaper to purchase an entire replacement guitar than to pay for a refret job. If I had to be extremely picky, then I would point out that the body on my guitar is a three-piece and the pieces are not book-matched - however even though you can notice it, the overall appearance is great and not in any way jarring because of those pieces. I own a bunch of Fender telecasters from a classic vibe Squier up to an American Standard and I can thoroughly recommend this Artist telecaster guitar as a great instrument and superb value.

Thanks for your feedback with the guitar. This really means a lot to us. We look forward to more business with you in the future. Cheers!

Fantastic value!

By: on 19 December 2022
I got this one on the back of the artist gold top being amazingly good value and I haven't been disappointed. I can't believe the quality for around $300. I always set up my guitars when I get them but this was perfectly intonated and the action and relief was perfect out of the box. The finish is fantastic. I haven't played it much yet but I listened while my son played it for a while yesterday. The pickups are quite noiseless. The bridge is really strong with good output. The middle is really twangy as the name suggests, if a little low output comparatively. The neck sounds nice and clean and not too muddy like some neck pickups. Pickups are really subjective and with all the options available you need to decide but I got this because I wanted a tele style guitar with higher output single coils and this seems to fit just right. I highly recommend this. I have a les paul studio, a japanese strat, japanese tokai and the finish and action are just as good on the artist. Why would you pay $1000 or more . Highly recommended. Looks like artist have thrown the idea of cheap guitars being nasty right out the windows.
