Artist AT53 Vintage Green Electric Guitar w/ Hand Made Pickups

What you've been waiting for is here! For those of you who prefer your guitars to look a little less battle-worn, we're introducing the AT53 in a non-relic nitrocellulose finish!

The latest in our much-lauded range of TC-style guitars, the Artist AT53 pairs the best elements of vintage guitar design with modern features to bring you an instrument that straddles the line between innately familiar and excitingly new. With a classic-looking roasted maple neck finished with a comfortable satin feel, the high-grade locking tuners and rosewood fretboard (at a lightning-quick 14-inch radius), make for a guitar that belies its own old-world aesthetic. With its stunning nitrocellulose finish, a material used mainly on guitars crafted prior to the 1970s, the AT53 sustains amazingly for such a lightweight instrument!

Having tested untold amounts of pickup options, we settled on a set of high-end, hand-made single coils wound by the Laohao workshop, a small team producing boutique batches of custom pickups to a frankly unbelievable standard. Paired with 500k pots, the AT53 has that signature single-coil twang we all know and love! Every detail has been pored over with this one - a bone nut, copper foil shielding, a wheeled string tree and locking strap buttons are among a host of features that make this your perfect modern instrument!

Lovely Instrument

After being recommended by a good friend of mine I ordered this guitar. I am certainly impressed with it. If plays great straight out of the box and I prefer it to my MIM Fender Stratocaster

AY 53 Beyond all expectations!

By: on 15 November 2024
I'm a long time customer of Artist Guitars and have always been impressed with the products and the service. But this guitar exceeded my expectations. It arrived about two days after it was delivered to the warehouse in Sydney and I'm in regional Victoria, so how's that for promptness? That's all expected, what was not expected was the sheer quality of this little axe. The finish is superb, the neck is really comfortable. The whole look reeks of 50's style. It has the original 'T' type bridge. But comes with nice modern refinements like high end locking machinheads and strap locks. It needed no setting up straight out of the box! It was in tune with perfect intonation all the way up the neck (did I mention how good the neck is?). Then I plugged it in. WHOA! It sounds like it should. Pure fifties tele. Twangy high end and loads of crunch at the bottom end. Put it through a little rat type device and Bam! Artist, you've outdone yourselves this time. It was well worth the wait.

How good?

By: on 13 November 2024
Well, I got my telecaster and boy it’s really good! Locking tuners, stainless steel frets, really light weight body, I adjusted the action and check the internation, which is pretty good, totally satisfied with the product and the communication from artist guitars, not just a good cheap guitar. It is a good guitar. I’m sure if there were any problems artist would fix it up Or replace, if you’re thinking about it, check them out on YouTube channels and take your pic you might have to wait but you’ll be happy you did,

My New Favourite

By: on 13 November 2024
Time is precious right?? So I want to save yours by saying just buy this AT53 Vintage now. I have played LOADS of guitars and this treasure is not going anywhere. I took a chance on this in the very beginning because of the absolute feast of features. What I wasn’t ready for was the way it felt to play, holding it in my arms it felt like.. you know your favourite shirt / comfy trackies / a spa after a long day. I loved the feel of the neck and the roasted maple quarter sawn showcased the grain and was smooth and caramel colour, mine even had some flaming in it. The nitro felt really nice and natural, not like that thick plastic poly feel. The switches, electronics and hardware are responsive and have the solid quality feel. The colour is amazing and I am allowed it on display as I strategically placed similar vibe colour accents in home decor. Haha This means that I can grab it anytime in the day and start playing. You won’t want to put it down. Before I received it I thought I could just swap the hand wound pickups as maybe it was a bit of just boutique talk. It wasn’t just talk. The pickups are a joy to the ears in warmth, clarity and you can dig in and they have this lush growl. Riding the volume knob and flicking between the neck and bridge pickup puts you into whatever bite you need, not to forget some Tele turbo twangin’ tarmac to go crazy with. Yum, authentic vintage. Ughhhh so good. I need to stop writing now, it’s calling me to pick it up again haha. All the best in your playing, have fun. I would not have written anything about this if I thought it was anything less than brilliant. I’m looking after you future AT53 lover! Stop reading - go order. Cheers

Green Machine Go to

By: on 13 November 2024
I unpacked the guitar and lowered the action and found the guitar better to play than my regular name brand Teleaster. I took it to my guitar tech to replace the side neck dots that my eyes found were too small. I do this with every guitar anyway. My tech weaved his magic and with a minor adjustment made the amazing neck even more amazing. This is now my go to guitar. In fact I will be looking to purchase an Artist acoustic guitar next. Thankyou Artist.

Artist AT53 Vintage Green - The BEST Bang for Your

By: on 13 November 2024
Locking Tuners, Strap Locks, Hand-Wound Pickups (that sound fantastic)...just those three pieces of hardware bought seperate elsewhere are almost at the price of this entire guitar! The value here is tremendous. I received this T-Style and was immediately in love with it. It's a lightweight, well setup instrument out of the box, and then actually sounds and plays amazing on top of that + all of those premium features and more. Seriously, this could be your first guitar, your 100th guitar or somewhere in between and it might become your main guitar. I could confidently gig with this, I'd happily take it to the studio no worries at all, it's everything you want from a T-Style guitar and it's really cemented my long standing assumption that guitars with 1000s more dollars on top need to step up their game. I'm honestly blown away.

I love this Telecaster

By: on 30 October 2024
I was contemplating buying this guitar for quite some time and I compared it to a few other bigger brand name Telecasters. Based on the looks, specifications and price I decided to pre-order this telecaster. Firstly, the delivery updates and the actual delivery was spot on, the guys at Artist did a great job with keeping me informed. This is my first single coil Telecaster and I was eagerly waiting for it to be delivered. The guitar arrived in great condition, no issues what so ever with the build quality. The guitar looks amazing !! The retro colour scheme with the nitro finish and the gorgeous roasted maple neck certainly gave the guitar the appearance of a much more expensive guitar. The neck with its slightly rolled edges, stainless steel frets is the definitely the hero of this Telecaster, the playability is amazing. The nut was cut well and the abalone inserts complement the colour scheme. The tones are superb, both the bridge and neck pickups produce the single coil Tele tones that I was seeking. I have had the guitar for just under a week and it has met my expectations. The only issue is that the bridge pick up is microphonic, but I am a recreational guitar player and this is not of concern for me. I have played the Tele through my Marshall DSL40 and also through my Line 6 Helix (+ Powercab) and I am getting some amazing tones and it also cuts nicely through the mix on backing tracks. This is my second purchase from Artist, my first was a Telecaster with the Bullbucker pick ups - and that is also a guitar that I have really enjoyed playing. I love the design of this guitar, partly modern (roasted maple neck, locking tuners) and partly vintage (pickups, nitro paint, bridge, brass saddles). The plating on the base of the bridge is a little textured and not sure if this was part of the vintage design or if it was a production issue, but again its no big deal. In summary, this is a great looking and playing Telecaster at a very affordable price. Well done Artist Guitars you met my expectations!

Amazing

By: on 27 October 2024
I’m stunned at just how good this model is right out of the box. I have had far more expensive guitars 4,5 even 6 times more expensive and while it’s not perfect, this guitar has an amazing feel to it and the price is quite amazing. This is my first Artist guitar and I was in the market for a Telecaster and was looking at all the major brands and some more boutique brands too. I decided to give this a go just because I wanted to see what the Artist hype was about and the specs on this one with stainless frets, roasted maple neck and nitro finish were fantastic. I’m very impressed and am really enjoying playing it. The neck is the standout for me. Great fretwork, beautiful feeling satin finish and nicely rolled edges. The nitro finish is great for what I wanted because I am hoping it gets some wear and looks worn in quickly. If you are buying hoping it will look new forever I think you wouldn’t want this finish. I think it will chip and show some wear pretty easily but that’s the fun of nitro finishes for me. There’s a couple of cons but only if nit picky. I had a small blowout in the finish where one of the screw holes for the bridge have been drilled - doesn’t bother me because I want the finish to get that aged feel quickly. The bridge pickup is quite microphonic too - I only play at home so again not a huge deal for me. Finally the knobs are just press on ones and mine were crooked - nothing I couldn’t fix myself but I’ll probably replace them at some point with nicer ones. All of these issues are very minor given the guitars price. I’m very happy with it - I’m shocked how good it is really. I’ll be coming back for more guitars now. Thanks Artist.

Incredible but one flaw

By: on 26 October 2024
The guitar arrived right on time. Shipping date never delayed or anything. Postage super quick as you can expect from Artist. Packaging was very good. The guitar specs are actually my dream guitar. I have made a paulownia DIY tele before, but this is even better. The neck feels great, the fretwork is so good. It came with action set up super low how I like it. 1.25mm at low e 12th fret and 1mm at high e. No fret buzz. Pickups sound amazing. Finish is great. Inlays are super nice. Now to the flaw. The bridge pickup is super microphonic. For me, this doesn't actually bother me because I mainly play at home and have never actually had a guitar with a microphinic pickup in it. I'm hoping to use this creatively (for example, Jonsi from Sigur Ros singing into the pickup). It's also a good feeling having a pickup that picks up everything on the fingers. But yeah any knocks anywhere on the guitar ring out loudly on the bridge pickup. It's a shame, but this guitar would definitely squeal at gig levels. I am not sure if its because they skipped the wax potting (or did so intentionally for proper 50s spec), but will from what I see online no other guitars had this problem.
