Artist SK72 15th Anniversary Obsidian Electric Guitar

We're turning 15! We've certainly come a long way from our humble beginnings producing a small range of electric guitars all those years ago! To celebrate, we're bringing you a range of pro-spec instruments at prices that defy belief - just as we've been doing for the last 15 years...

We introduced the Artist AS72 and Skyler models earlier in the year to vigorous demand for more, so it's only right we continue our anniversary range with a very special edition that combines these two epic guitars! With the HSS configuration and high-grade electronics of the AS72, and the unique offset body styling of the Skyler, the SK72 is truly in a league of its own! Featuring the hand-wound Laohao pickups you know and love, the SK72 produces a clear, bell-like high-end and throaty mid-range with plenty of bite, and compresses beautifully to produce rich harmonic distortion tones when pushed. Positions 2 and 4 yield that familiar, out-of-phase strat-style "quack", but if you're ready for more grit, the high-output bridge humbucker is capable of anything from 70s-style classic lead tones to modern, tight chugging - if that's your cup of tea!

The Artist SK72 features a C-shaped quartersawn roasted maple neck, rosewood fretboard, and 22 stainless-steel frets. At a 14-inch radius, this is an ergonomic, lightning-quick neck perfect for the virtuosos amongst you! High-grade, 19:1 ratio locking tuners and a 42mm bone nut ensure your tuning remains incredibly stable, while the included strap locks ensure you can headbang to your heart's content, safe in the knowledge that the limited edition black-and-white Obsidian finish remains unsullied by the rigours of the road! Like the rest of our range, the 15th Anniversary edition of the Artist SK72 has been painstakingly designed to perfectly balance professional quality with our famous affordability - the same ethos that has carried us since our first guitar rolled off the line all those years ago.

Whether you've been with us since the beginning, or you've come in late, we can't thank you enough for supporting us in delivering quality instruments at an affordable price. Here's to another 15 years, and many more!

SK72 Obsidian

So I have seen the reviews of a few guitars in the Artist range from Shane (intheblues) & Peter Northcote. I know both of them can make a plank of wood &some fencing wire sound great - magicians that they are. I went to the Yennora warehouse & was suitably impressed all round. The staff were great & I settled on the SK72 Obsidian. It doesn't disappoint at all. These are a limited run & at the time of writing only a few left. As Peter says 'Do yourself a favour!' - these are a great offering. I compared it to the AS62III & I recon the extra cash is worth it. Not knocking the AS62 at all - but the SK72 just floated my boat. It has a S-type / offset vibe and the finish is a winner in my book. I've had it a couple of days & only had to tune it up. I'll change the strings & adjust the trem to taste & a minor intonation tweak - as you would on any S-style - and I'll be one happy camper. BTW ... if you are interested - the website says weight 'TBC" mine is just under 8 lb. I can't do 'boat-anchors' - but this snuck in under my limit. This one is a winner Artist Guitars!

SK72 Obsidian

I had this guitar on order for more than six months and the delivery date got knocked back a month in that time. So I was very happy to see it when it finally arrived, and even more happy to find it well worth the wait. Given the quality and price of this guitar I was only a little surprised to see it is out of stock only a week after mine was delivered. it has a very handsome finish, the photography doesn't do it justice. What looks gunmetal grey in the photographs is actually a metallic silver that glints and sparkles. The pickups sound great with lots of tones in the five way switch. The neck and frets feel good, the locking tuners are easy to use. Mine came set up fairly low with no fret buzz - dead straight neck and very well finished frets. The trem works well - the springs are a little bit hard for my liking but that's a personal thing for sure. Very impressed, very happy with this guitar - thanks AG!
