Artist Walnut58 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar w/ Humbucker Pickups

This classic style guitar has existed in many forms since it was first released in 1958. Since then it has been coveted by some of the greatest Rock 'n Roll, Blues and Jazz guitarists that the world has ever known. Legendary names like BB King, Freddie King, John McLaughlin, Larry Carlton, Jorma Kaukonen, Eric Clapton and Elvin Bishop are among the multitude of players who have loved the diverse tones that this type of instrument offers. Now it's your turn!

The Artist Walnut58 was a popular model from a customer survey; you asked, we listened, and now this beautiful new model is here! With the typical set-neck, this guitar is truly a "blues machine". Like the body, the neck is constructed of maple with an eco-friendly Eco-Rosewood fretboard. The 22 frets show off the 'Dot' shaped plastic inlays and with the comfortable "C" shape neck the tune-o-matic bridge and stop-bar tailpiece, you have a guitar that will not only feel great under your fingers but one that will sustain forever!

The Walnut58 sports chrome-covered VLPA Humbuckers so you have the option of the warm throaty tones of the neck pickup or the biting clean sounds of the bridge pickup. When you set your toggle switch in between neck and bridge pickup you get that wonderful almost out of phase sound from both humbuckers. The Walnut58 also features a top-mounted jack, which is often useful on a larger-bodied guitar.

Love can be found anywhere, even in a guitar.

Excellent semi hollow body guitar, the tones from this guitar are awesome and the pickups are excellent. the tone and volume pots are smooth and the tone is excellent i wont be changing anything about this guitar's tone, it is exactly what i was looking for. Excellent tone and build quality. finally i have other high end guitars but they do not resonate like my Artist guitars and i don't think they sound as good. The walnut 58 when its not being played is lovely to perv on with the flamed top the only problem is your human love interest will get jealous about how much time you will spend perving and playing........true story.

Amazing value

First off, this guitar looks really classy. The finish is superb and makes the guitar stand out. It’s comfortable to play, the pickups are nice and articulate, and as a Blues guitarist, it gives me all the sounds I need. Amazing value for the price.

You won’t believe it!! I didn’t! Now I do!

So, I purchased this guitar having seen a number of reviews on YouTube raving about Artist Guitars. I saw the price. To be honest, I was skeptical. The price point wouldn’t buy the Timbers in this guitar from most companies. But with the return policy, I decided to roll the dice as I had nothing to lose. I am so glad I did. This guitar looks, sounds and plays fantastic. It arrived in perfect condition well set up by Hank. It has quickly become one of my favourites, and I’m a recording artist with guitars from the big G and the big F companies, and this guitar sits right there with them. It has that beautiful hollow body vintage sound, especially on the middle setting, with more than enough bite on the back pickup for most. I can’t believe it! I’ll be testing that honey burst LP on all my channels and in the studio next! As a songwriter I care a lot about that vintage sound and feel and this guitar has it. Thanks heaps, Artist team, you’ve made me a loyal customer.

An amazing guitar!

I've had this for 6 months and it has become one of the most loved. The feel of the neck is perfect imo. The sound and vibration of the body just sings and it's beautiful. I've modded almost every single guitar that i had including the PU of an epiphone es. This one is just uniquely perfect just as is. For context, I play some of my other guitars alot more due to ease, form factor and PU. I gravitate to this when i feel like sitting down, connect with a guitar and play without thought.

Excellent purchase!

Love the look of the Walnut58 semi-hollow guitar, I really only appreciated the colour when I was in the showroom as opposed to looking online. My son has the lead-guitarist talent in the family, I've been more the strummer/picker of an acoustic, so I was keen to know how it felt under his fingers with testing and he loved it. He has a Fender Squire Classic Vide and plays well, so I trust his feel and judgement. And for the money we both know it is WAY better than anything of similar price. He would prefer a different fretboard but that's just preference he says and there's absolutely nothing wrong with the Walnut58 fretboard. A friend recently purchased a cherry red version which looks equally great. I've only had it a few weeks, still with my 'L' plates on using an electric but I'm glad I picked it - you gotta love your guitar!

The great 58

I’ve owned lots of guitars from the terrible to the brilliant and I’ve come to understand that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a guitar that suits you. The Artist 58 Walnut is a beautiful instrument and so affordable. It ticks all the boxes and for the price, you can’t go wrong.

When the RRP is around $300 you can’t expect a whole lot. I have high end guitars but wanted to see how this shape suited me. I’m really amazed at the build quality overall. However, you get what you pay for and the tuning is swimming all over the place. Very odd. I’ll put some heavier strings on and hope she’ll settle down. Still at $350 I can get some better tuners and a bone nut. Really can’t say a bad word about it beyond that. Things could be better for sure. A Gibson 335 will cost you 8-12 grand. Personally I don’t think they’re $11,650 better than these humble beauties. I’d say give them a go and see. I had a terrible first electric guitar a Mustang copy which despite being appalling is now a ‘vintage’ instrument and sells for $600. By comparison these are custom shop and in 40 years you’ll double your money!!

Very happy with this guitar, not perfect, but damned close. I’ve smoothed the edges on the nut, linseed oiled the fretboard, changed the strings, lowered the action by 1mm, intonation was already set. Only thing I didnt like was the control knobs, they dont sit down flush to the body, easily replaced tho. All up its a beautiful instrument, plays and sounds great.

On reflection, no regrets. Just appreciation

I bought this guitar a month or so ago. It wasn't perfect but it was really great value. Now a month later I've put on a set of 50-11 flatwounds, installed Grover vintage tuners, refined the nut and the whole set up. The Pick Ups also needed minor adjustment; the bass side was a bit low. The whole exercise was less than $100 in parts and about 3-4 hours of my labour. I thought it was great value when I bought the guitar and pretty reasonable to play straight out of the box . There wasn't much wrong with it but I was after a few improvements which I have enjoyed doing immensely. Now it's a great guitar and I doubt I'd find anything as good for less that 3 or 4 times what this has cost me including the replacement parts and luthiers labour time. This one is a lifetime keeper.

The guitar arrived in just two days. During more than fifty years of playing all of my guitars have been Dreadnought acoustics or solid body electrics. I'm a blues player so I don't know why I've never had a 335 style guitar so I thought it was time I did. I checked out the Artist options and was very impressed with the online demos. I chose the Walnut model for it's classy colour and stunning spalted veneer top. The C shape neck suits me fine. I've always preferred a matt or satin timber finish but I'm getting used to the painted neck. Straight out of the box, the action suited me and the intonation was fine. The pickups and tone controls deliver the signature 335 sounds. The binding around the F holes is not found on guitars at much higher prices. It looks great, is a joy to play and a third of the price of big brand's entry model.

Lovely Guitar, Incredible Value

By: on 1 March 2023
Jason, It was delivered yesterday and I played it for a good half hour last night; was a bit late as I had a lot in the office to get through yesterday. I had another go for half an hour this morning too while I waited for a tech guy to sort my recalcitrant office computers. The build and finish appears really good and the colour is simply lovely. The nut is a little high and inconsistent and will require some adjustment, the relief about perfect and it plays reasonably well straight from the box. The neck is really nice and with a personalized set up will be as good as anything in my collection of now about 17 guitars, some of which are top end gear. Not sure about the tuners; they felt a little different to what I anticipated but this might be the strings too. I had a bit of an issue maintaining tuning, even after stretching in the strings but it might be a case of the instrument settling in. It was much better this morning than last night. None of that is any issue as I build, repair and set up guitars anyway and will personalize as necessary. I was well pleased with the pickup tones. A genuine 335 sound. This guitar replaces another 335 style I had which, in a moment of weakness, I gifted to my new son in law. The main difference between the two is this one was less than half the cost! Overall Mate it’s a really nice guitar and exceptionally good value. I’ve had a couple goes at inspecting for transit damage; nothing appears wrong but in any case I get distracted and start playing or just admiring the beautiful finish and colour. A really nice axe Mate. Would definitely recommend this unit for anyone wanting to add a good 335 clone to their collection without spending a huge sum. Even after factoring in a couple hours for a guitar tech to adjust things to personal specs it still represents terrific value.

It's the vibe.....

By: on 3 December 2022
I'll be honest.... How good can a guitar at this price point actually be???? That was me when I first came across this brand. Like always I started researching, read the reviews, watched the Youtube videos, tried to make sense of it all. It all seemed too good to be true. However, the greatest personal growth comes in those times one is proven to be incorrect. I had to know so I decided to plug in and boy was I surprised. This gat is the biz. Admittedly it wasn't playable straight out of the case (lovely piece of gear in and of itself mind you). Fretboard required a once over with the conditioner, whacked on a new set of XLs, dropped the action to my preference and away we went. What a beast. All the gear works like it should. Everything was tight (except for my playing, but it's been a while so forgive me for that). The soundscape is as good as all the reviews I watched and read. It is comfortable to play in both the seated and standing positions. You can get a great power stance happening. A small detail that I have been impressed with is how well it holds its tuning. I have really had a hard time putting it down. Whatever your style preference, you will be able to achieve it on one of these machines. In summing up, it's the Constitution, it's Mabo, it's justice, it's law, it's the vibe..... No, that's it, it's the vibe..... I rest my case....

Walnut 335 style. Great sustain & tonal clarity across the entire fretboard. Guitar resonates even before professional setup. Nice out of the box but capable of so much more with fine adjustment. Pickups are excellent choice and tone. I am stunned yet again by Artist product standards. Completely unbeatable & totally unmatched by any other brand at twice this price. Buy one
