Understanding Guitar Stand Foam Materials

Author: Corey R

There are 2 different types of foam we use on our guitar stands: EVA and NBR. While these materials are quite similar there are a few key differences.

EVA foam:
•    Safe for Nitrocellulose paint
•    EVA foam has a firm feel
•    High temperature safe
•    Has a rougher appearance

NBR Foam:
•    Safe for Nitrocellulose paint
•    NBR foam has a soft feel
•    EVA can have issues at very high temperature
•    Has a smoother appearance

In summary, all of our guitar stands are safe for Nitrocellulose paint, however Nitrocellulose paint is also affected by physical pressure, so leaving a guitar on a stand will leave a mark on it over time.
